Welcome to the PCSA Website

In the mid-late 90’s a group of safety professionals, seeing that the parcel carriers industry was falling short of applicable safety regulations decided to start the Parcel Carrier’s Safety Forum.

The Forum comprised of Safety Professionals and Managers from the UK’s leading Parcel Carriers and interested parties involved in the collection, sorting, delivery distribution of parcels also incorporating warehousing and logistic activities.

In 2004 the forum registered as a limited company and became The Parcel Carriers Safety Association. Over the years industry mergers have resulted in changes to member numbers, but no reduction in member company employee numbers (collectively in excess of 51,000 at 2008).

Member companies, now of varying sizes, meet quarterly to discuss safety related topics relevant to the industry which are also attended by a Health and Safety Executive Inspector who advises upon current and future legislation.

The primary aim of the Association is to develop and promote safety excellence and best practice within the parcel carrying industry by discussion, sharing information, reviewing statutory and regulatory compliance as well as benchmarking safety performance within its membership.

The PCSA does not provide external interpretation to the array of legislation that applies to our industry, nor does it dictate to its membership how to apply or implement safety measures or legislation. However the collective wealth of professional experience, knowledge and expertise within the association provides its members with a useful resource to draw upon. The Association can also provide a single focus for its constituent members co-ordinating a common industry response to draft legislation and regulation that directly impacts on the parcel carrying industry.

The Association also recognises that not all parcel carriers are members or have access to dedicated safety departments. Therefore the PCSA will endeavour to provide access to some common industry related topics freely from this web site in order to offer some assistance to improving standards throughout the whole industry.

If you are interested in becoming a member or would like to make a ‘safety related’ presentation at one of our meetings please send an e-mail to: info@pcsa.biz or write to us at the address below.
